HILLSBOROUGH COLLEGE ELECTRICAL LINE WORKER TRAINING PROGRAM INFORMATION

Welcome to The Institute for Corporate and Continuing Education at Hillsborough College, Electrical Line Worker Training Program.  As a scholarship-funded training opportunity, our program provides students with the foundational knowledge and technical skills essential to the electric utility industry.  Students receive instruction in industry practices, safety procedures, and the fundamental principles of electrical line work.

Through a combination of classroom instruction and hands-on training, students develop practical skills, technical understanding, and confidence while building a strong educational foundation for future opportunities in the electrical utility field.

BOOTCAMP INFORMATION

Bootcamp Date: Saturday, February 20, 2027

Our bootcamp is a pre-program orientation. The bootcamp will take place outdoors and in varying weather conditions, be prepared to perform physical tasks and activities in the elements.  Endurance and stamina are critical.  Specifically, you’ll need CrossFit-style endurance—the ability to sustain high-intensity efforts over extended periods, involving both cardiovascular and muscular endurance.  Often during the bootcamp and program students are pushed to the limits of their physical ability; please be prepared.  Bootcamp and program tasks may be as follows; but not limited to strenuous:  lifting, digging, climbing, and walking.  Submit only one application. If all bootcamp requirements are met, you will receive an email invitation to register for the bootcamp.  The bootcamp registration fee is $93.00 and must be paid at the time of registration.

BOOTCAMP APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS

  • Must be a resident of the State of Florida
  • Must be 18 years old or older (by the bootcamp start date)
  • Must have a high school diploma/official high school transcript/GED (see information under FAQ’s for details)
  • Must have a valid Florida Driver License (registration and driver license name must match)

PROGRAM SCHOLARSHIP ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS

  1. Review program information (see below)
  2. Attend the bootcamp on: Saturday, February 20, 2027
  3. Pass the bootcamp
  4. Pass the BSTB Battery Standard Aptitude Test
  5. Pass a level 2 background check
  6. Pass a drug test – This eligibility requirement includes but is not limited to recreational drugs, including medical marijuana.

PROGRAM INFORMATION

Start Date:  Tuesday, March 9, 2027
End Date: Thursday, July 1, 2027
Days: Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday
Time:  8:00 AM to 2:00 PM SHARP (plus weekly online homework)
Location:  HC Brandon Campus
Tuition:  $6,500.00.  If all requirements are met, students will be eligible to receive a  scholarship award totaling $6,500.00; the full cost of the program. 
 
The following certificates will be earned:
  • OSHA 10-Hour
  • Adult, Child, and Baby CPR, AED and First Aid 
  • Certificate of Completion

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ’s) and Information:

  1. The scholarship is intended exclusively for the program fee and program-related expenses; you are responsible for personal expenses. 
  2. Attendance is required for all program dates and times. 
  3. We reserve the right to cancel any program or course that does not meet minimum enrollment requirements or for other administrative or logistical reasons.
  4. All communication prior to the start of the program is via email; check your inbox and spam for emails from HC-ICCE regarding the Electrical Line Worker Program. Allow 2 to 3 business days for applicable replies.
  5. Only one scholarship per student.
  6. You cannot pay for the program out of pocket or with any other pay source.
  7. The bootcamp will take place outside in the elements and you will be expected to perform physical tasks/activities. Bring a face towel, water; stay hydrated.  Endurance and stamina are important. 
  8. If you are uploading a high school transcript, upload the entire transcript.  Ensure that your Withdrawal Code reflects Standard High School Diploma.  REMOVE YOUR SOCIAL SECURITY NUMBER BEFORE UPLOADING.
  9. A Learner License or Identification Card is not accepted.
  10. If you are graduating from high school and your graduation date is before the bootcamp; upload a paper with the name of your high school and graduation date.

  12. A CDL (Commercial Driver License) is not required.  You will not receive a CDL in this program.
