HILLSBOROUGH COLLEGE (HC) ELECTRICAL LINEWORKER TRAINING PROGRAM INFORMATION

SOUTHEASTERN ELECTRIC EXCHANGE SCHOLARSHIP OPPORTUNITY 

Hillsborough College (HC) and Southeastern Electric Exchange, Inc. (S.E.E.) partnered to invest in the Electrical Lineworker Training Program through the HC Foundation and Institute for Corporate and Continuing Education. The Hillsborough College Electrical Lineworker Training Program is a S.E.E. scholarship-based program designed to provide students with the fundamental knowledge and basic skills needed when seeking a career in the electric utility industry as an Apprentice Lineworker.  Our training program equips scholarship recipients with the skills and knowledge needed to apply for an Apprentice Lineworker position.

  • High school diploma/GED (by start of the program)

BOOTCAMP INFORMATION

Date:  Saturday, February 21, 2026

The bootcamp will take place outdoors and in varying weather conditions, so be prepared to perform physical tasks and activities in the elements.  Endurance and stamina are critical.  Specifically, you’ll need CrossFit-style endurance—the ability to sustain high-intensity efforts over extended periods, involving both cardiovascular and muscular endurance.  Often during the bootcamp and program students are pushed to the limits of their physical ability, please be prepared.  Bootcamp and program tasks may be as follows; but not limited to strenuous:  lifting, digging, climbing, and walking.


SCHOLARSHIP PROCESS

  3. Submit only one application 
  4. You will receive an email from HC-ICCE staff to register/attend the bootcamp (pre-program orientation), the bootcamp register fee is $93.00. 
  5. Attend the bootcamp on: Saturday, February 21, 2026
  6. Scholarship eligibility requirements:
    • Must be a resident of the State of Florida
    • Pass the bootcamp
    • Pass the BSTB Battery Standard Aptitude Test
    • Pass a level 2 background check
    • Pass a drug test – This eligibility requirement includes but is not limited to recreational drugs, including medical marijuana.

PROGRAM INFORMATION

Start Date:  03/24/26
End Date: 06/30/26
Days: Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday
Time:  8:00 AM to 2:00 PM SHARP (plus weekly online homework)
Location:  HC Brandon Campus
Tuition:  $6,500.00 (paid for by scholarship only)
If all requirements are met (see #6 under Scholarship Process), students will be eligible for a S.E.E. scholarship award totaling $6,500.00; the full cost of the program. 
 
The following certificates will be earned during the program:
  • OSHA 10-Hour
  • CPR & AED
  • First Aid

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ’s):

  1. Must be a resident of the State of Florida.
  2. The scholarship is intended exclusively for your program fee and program-related expenses; you are responsible for personal expenses. Attendance is required for all program dates and times. 
  3. We reserve the right to cancel any program or course that does not meet minimum enrollment requirements or for other administrative or logistical reasons.
  4. All communication is via email; check your inbox and spam for emails from HC-ICCE regarding the Electrical Lineworker Program. Allow 2 to 3 business days for applicable replies.
  5. Only one scholarship per student.
  6. You cannot pay for the ELW Program out of pocket or with any other payment source.
  7. The bootcamp will take place outside in the elements and you will be expected to perform physical tasks/activities. Bring water and stay hydrated.  Endurance and stamina are important. 
  8. You will receive a refund for the bootcamp registration fee if: you do not attend the bootcamp. You do not pass the bootcamp. You do not pass the BSTB Aptitude Test.

  10. A CDL (Commercial Driver License) is not required.  You will not receive a CDL in this program.
