
HILLSBOROUGH COLLEGE ELECTRICAL LINE WORKER TRAINING PROGRAM INFORMATION
THE TECO TAMPA ELECTRIC SCHOLARSHIP OPPORTUNITY
Hillsborough College (HC) and Tampa Electric (TECO) partnered to invest in the Electrical Line Worker Training Program through the HC Foundation and Institute for Corporate and Continuing Education. The Hillsborough College Electrical Line Worker Training Program is a TECO scholarship-based program designed to provide students with the fundamental knowledge and basic skills needed when seeking a career in the electric utility industry as an Apprentice Line Worker. Our training program equips scholarship recipients with the skills and knowledge needed to apply for the TECO Apprentice Line Worker position.

BOOTCAMP APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS
- Must be a resident of the State of Florida
- Must be 18 years old or older (by start of the program)
- Must have a high school diploma/official high school transcript/GED
- Must have a valid Florida Driver License

NOTICE: The next bootcamp will be scheduled for Spring 2027.

- Once completed you will receive an email to register and attend the bootcamp (pre-program orientation); the bootcamp registration fee is $93.00.
BOOTCAMP INFORMATION
Bootcamp Date: TBD (Spring 2027)
The bootcamp will take place outdoors and in varying weather conditions, be prepared to perform physical tasks and activities in the elements. Endurance and stamina are critical. Specifically, you’ll need CrossFit-style endurance—the ability to sustain high-intensity efforts over extended periods, involving both cardiovascular and muscular endurance. Often during the bootcamp and program students are pushed to the limits of their physical ability; please be prepared. Bootcamp and program tasks may be as follows; but not limited to strenuous: lifting, digging, climbing, and walking.
SCHOLARSHIP ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS

- Pass the BSTB Battery Standard Aptitude Test
- Pass a level 2 background check
- Pass a drug test – This eligibility requirement includes but is not limited to recreational drugs, including medical marijuana.

- The scholarship is intended exclusively for the program fee and program-related expenses; you are responsible for personal expenses. Attendance is required for all program dates and times.
- We reserve the right to cancel any program or course that does not meet minimum enrollment requirements or for other administrative or logistical reasons.
- All communication prior to the start of the program is via email; check your inbox and spam for emails from HC-ICCE regarding the Electrical Line Worker Program. Allow 2 to 3 business days for applicable replies.
- Only one scholarship per student.
- You cannot pay for the ELW Program out of pocket or with any other pay source.
- The bootcamp will take place outside in the elements and you will be expected to perform physical tasks/activities. Bring a face towel, water; stay hydrated. Endurance and stamina are important.

- A CDL (Commercial Driver License) is not required. You will not receive a CDL in this program.
- Receiving a scholarship and passing our program does not guarantee employment at TECO.
