General Description:
The healthcare industry is currently undergoing major changes in the manner in which patient care is provided. This restructuring has resulted in the introduction of a new category of healthcare worker trained to perform a variety of patient care services. The Patient Care Technician course teaches the technical skills necessary to service complex patient personal care issues including the implementation of selected portions of a specific care plan that may include rehabilitation services, basic bedside care, collection of laboratory specimens, phlebotomy and EKG’s primarily geared for the inpatient setting. The Patient Care Technician works alongside doctors, nurses and other healthcare providers to oversee and monitor patients. This Patient Care Technician training will provide students with the basic medical knowledge and hands on skills necessary to perform or obtain technical diagnostic testing and perform direct patient care. The Course Includes:

  • Scrubs
  • CPR
  • Background check
  • CNA exam
  • PCT exam

Program Benefits:

All participants will receive CPR certification as a component of this course. Program price includes tuition, textbook, liability insurance, registration fee, activity fee, scrubs, CPR certification, and background check fee. Students are responsible for their medical physical exam. 

 After registering and paying for this course, please print both the physical exam form and the background check form (see below links). You will need to schedule a medical physical exam with your healthcare provider. Bring your completed physical exam form and your completed background check form to the first day of class.

Upon successful completion of the Patient Care Technician training students will have the skills necessary to compete for a number of health care technician positions.  Job opportunities are prevalent in hospitals, clinics, rehabilitation centers, long term care facilities, physician offices and assisted living facilities.  The successful completion of this program will prepare students to seek employment as a Patient Care Technician, Patient Care Assistant, Nurse Technician, Clinical Assistant, and other hands on patient care givers.

  • Phlebotomy including venipuncture and capillary sampling
  • collecting non-blood specimens and point of care testing
  • performing 12 lead EKGs, EKG strip analysis (P,Q,R,S,T wave form)

Who Should Attend:
Any person interested in starting a career in healthcare as a Patient Care Technician.  All students must be 18 years of age or have a high school diploma or GED.
