General Description:

This continuing education course is designed for new nursing graduates who have successfully completed either a Registered Nurse or Bachelors degree program in nursing and have an interest with seeking employment within the Emergency Department of a hospital. All participants will be required to obtain a Florida Nursing license prior to the completion of the program to be eligible for employment. The training will provide participants with a concentrated, targeted hands on experience with the various facets of the Emergency Department in preparation of employment.

Learning Objectives:
 

Successful completion of the Emergency Department Program will serve as the pre-requisite for employment at pre-selected HCA facilities per contractual agreements with HCA and the selected participants. As a part of a pilot program, candidates will be screened and selected by the HR department of HCA Hospitals in anticipation of the offer of employment upon successful completion of the training. Once employment begins, participants of this program will be required to undergo the routine new employee orientation and training in accordance with the standing policy of each institution. Hillsborough Community College is responsible for the training component of the program. All decisions regarding employment are the responsibility of HCA.
